I guess I’ll be spending the next two months turning skeins into kits and deciding what I need to dye come August. We have been pretty slow moving over here, and then, with two kidlets, it will be even more slow moving. Must plan ahead!
as you all know, if you’ve been following me a while, my business appears to change at least a bit each year. sometimes a lot. there was the time i gave up my art hat knitting for yarn dyeing and designing. there was the short time i had a little studio. there was the time i gave up craft fairs to do fiber shows…
so many changes! and now, with baby number two pending, i’m thinking of another change. it will just be temporary, but i’m thinking of dyeing and making kits for some of my patterns. it seems more manageable than keeping lots of yarn in stock at all times and then maybe i can even market the kits to yarn stores? anyhow, it would be great if you could take the following poll and help me decide what to focus on! you can pick more than one and please list in the other space or comment on this post with any particular patterns you’d like to see in kit form.

I have, once in a while, thrown some yarn support at another designer who I like. I do this mostly on a whim and if it is a person I know or have had contact with several times. One of those is Amy.
Amy is a brilliant designer (and architect, if you can’t tell from her designs). And she made an AMAZING stole out of my yarn – the Claro Stole.
The only unfortunate thing about this one, for me, is that I will have to wait at least a year until I get my brain back from baby number two to make this. But I think it is brilliant and worth the knit.
And what could make it better than ingenious construction and beauty? It only takes one skein of Snapdragon Light Fingering. Now you should click here and go look at all the beautiful pictures of it and drool.

I’m not teaching at the Knit and Crochet Festival this year (I’ll be 8.5 months pregnant…), but I’m making up for it by offering these classes at the Wilkins School Community Center.
Beginning Knitting
Saturdays the 18th of January and 22nd of February, 9-10:30 – $40
Learn to knit for the first time or get a refresher course. In this class, you’ll not only learn the basics of knitting, but you’ll also come out well on your way to your first finished project! Beginning Spinning on a Drop Spindle
one class, Saturday February 22nd 10:30-12:30 – $25
Have a hankering to make your own beautiful yarn? In this class you will learn to spin on a spindle using the park and draft method. This class is mostly about getting yarn on your spindle, but I also cover plying and talk a bit about fiber. Register here with the WSCC online or by mail.
Sweater Workshop: Knit or Design a Baby Sweater
one class, includes support after the class is over via email, or in person if we can make it happen – $30
Saturday January 18th, 10:30-1:00 Class size limited to 6
Interested in knitting your first sweater? Or have you just not found the right pattern and want to figure out how to alter patterns or design your own? This class will focus on the top down raglan style of sweater. This is a super simple, seamless garment that can be easily altered with some basic math. After discussing the basics of how these sweaters are constructed, people can either choose to design their own or choose to follow a pattern. Register here online with the WSCC or by mail.
